Hydraulic Deep Draw Presses

A deep drawing press forms a part from a sheet metal blank. The part can be clamped in the die by a separate ram that allows the controlled flow of metal as a punch pushes the material into a cavity. The press can also be designed for reverse forming. Although definitions of deep drawing vary some it can certainly be called a fairly radical forming process of taking flat stock and forming cup like shapes.

Hydraulic deep draw presses are best suited for deep drawing applications because they offer precise control of ram speeds giving control over metal flow rates within the dies and preventing material from tearing or wrinkling. Hydraulic deep drawing presses can also utilize multi-step forming in addition to variable tonnage throughout the cycle.

Advanced Machine Design Company utilizes over 37 years of engineering knowledge and experience to design and manufacture heavy industrial duty hydraulic deep draw presses. We offer standard designs of presses but generally each deep draw press is designed specifically for the application. Many factors go into designing a deep draw press and these are addressed individually within each design. Our deep draw presses are currently making components ranging from air conditioning and appliance components to turbine engine components.

Factors for designing deep draw presses:

  • Speed
  • Tonnage
  • Single or multi step forming
  • Variable speed or tonnage during pressing
  • Return on tonnage or speed
  • Die clamping
  • Die moving
  • Part clamping
  • Variable stroke
  • Daylight
  • Cushion
  • Ejector
  • Bed area
  • Accuracy

Advanced Machine Design Company hydraulic deep drawing presses can be supplied with entry and exit automated material handling. This is the value added of purchasing an entire turnkey system from one vendor.
